About Me

Dr. Hale is an Assistant Professor of Mental Health Counseling at Belmont University in Nashville, TN within the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences where he teaches in the masters and doctoral mental health counseling programs. He provides counseling services about 1 full day per week and offers continuing education trainings and workshops for counselors. He also

Education

Dr. Hale has been practicing as a therapist since 2019. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Bible with emphases in Youth Ministry, Preaching, and Local Ministry and a Minor in Psychology (2015). He also earned a Master of Arts degree in Pastoral Care and Counseling (2019), and a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (2021) all from Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, TN. Dr. Hale completed his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Counseling and Supervision (2024) from Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, TN where he completed his research dissertation entitled Examining the Psychometric Properties of the Attachment to God Inventory with a 12 Step Substance Use Recovery Population.

Licensure and Certifications

Dr. Hale hold state licensures granted by Tennessee as a Licensed Professional Counselor-Mental Health Service Provider, and a Licensed Clinical Pastoral Therapist. Dr. Hale also holds national credentials:

Board Certified Christian Counselor granted by the International Board of Christian Care (an American Association of Christian Counselors organization).

Ministry Experience

Before entering the counseling field, Mason worked in various church ministry roles starting in 2012 and served as a student minister, family minister, and young adult minister for churches of Christ in Texas, Indiana, and Tennessee. He teaches Bible classes and serves in various ministries at the local church he attends with his family. He also speaks and preaches occasionally for churches, youth groups, church camps, church and student ministry retreats, and area-wide church meetings.
